hand of god

starting the new year with viewing a hot documentary. “The Hand of God” is incisive and poetic. Director Joe Cultrera uses assembled items like hosts, water, statues to create montage scenes that work as abstract evocations.
This is a beautiful look and feel of a family of faith, Catholic faith, living through the arrogance of church power males. living through the betrayal of sex abuse and lies.
This type of documentary is an excellent example of what docs can do as art form. You can see it online. I wish the film could be seen more widely.
